Feeling Like a Newborn: Alluring Cradle for Adults

Why should small children be the only ones enjoying the sweet comfort and peaceful swings of a cradle? This is probably the rhetorical question that triggered the idea of creating a cradle for adults. Richard Clarkson in collaboration with Grace Emmanual, Brodie Campbell, Jeremy Broker, Eamon Moore, Kahlivia Russell and Joya Boerrigter took the idea of some adults always bearing a child side within to another level. According to the project developers, “Cradle is about creating a safe, comfortable and relaxing environment in which the user can dissipate the overstimulation of their senses. The design was heavily directed by a synthesis of research into Autism and children with Rhythmic Movement Disorder (RMD), as well as saftey, sustainability, function and aesthetics. The chair is designed for maximum relaxation, comfort and calmness“. We are intrigued by the design of this “cradle for adults” (initially spotted on Beautiful Life) and we know that even most of you out there won’t admit it, you would love to take this comfortable bed for a swing.

Inspired by Underwater Air Bubbles: Float Coffee Table

Here is an original looking furniture piece making it difficult for anyone not to instantly fall for its design. Float Coffee Table was created by Liz Boscacci and comes with an interesting base structure, which contributes to its very fresh appearance. At a first glance, one may associate the base with coffee beans or playful rubber balls. However, the idea for the product is said to be inspired by the underwater bubbles floating towards the surface. We absolutely love the contrast between the elegant, seemingly fragile table top and the “crowded” wooden base. The materials used to create this intriguing coffee table were turned mahogany and glass. And in case you are interested, the dimensions of the product are as follows: 3 feet in diameter and a height of 13 inches. We are certain that an unconventional design such as this one can not leave one indifferent, which is why we are looking forward to your comments.

Faultless Design and Energy Efficiency: Tiburon Bay House

It is hard to find something wrong with this captivating looking modern residence. Tiburon Bay House was designed by Butler Armsden Architects and is cleverly integrated in a rich natural environment When designing this residence, the architects were tasked to create an energy sustainable home. As a result, “the floor plan of the house is centralized around a vertical stair to minimize circulation for people and utilities. The rooms are then allowed to spiral away from this core to take advantage of the views and the garden. An exterior bridge that serves as an outdoor living space also connects the garden to the house and solves the difficult problem of entering a house on a fairly steep uphill site. All of the materials used in the project are recycled or sustainable and in some cases, like the retaining walls, were salvaged from the foundations of the original house. Electricity and hot water are solar powered, and there is even a complex water reclamation system that is technologically ahead of the local building codes“. We were pleasantly surprised by the interior design of this place, characterized by a contemporary style, mixed with good taste. How would you characterize this modern crib?

Necessities For a Modern Family Life: Tera Residence

Romanian architecture and interior design studio Qub Design sent us some photos of the Tera Residence, a beautiful house in Floresti, Romania. Constructed on two levels, the residence features a collection of living spaces on the ground floor and private rooms in the attic. The ground floor features the living room, kitchen, home office and a bathroom – and an adjacent garage that shelters the family car. The attic is occupied by three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The first noticeable thing about the Tera residence is the abundance of white – the colour that accentuates and gives a sense of equilibrium to the interior design. A relaxed atmosphere was induced even in the absence of extensive space – the living spaces display a comfortable feeling, necessary for a family home. These photos taken by Hila express the inhabitant’s love for modern design. Relaxing colours caught in the natural colour palette were carefully selected to define the lines of the furniture and infuse a general calmness. The designer successfully combined the elements of each room in a great overall design, capturing the essence of family life, don’t you think?

Batman-Inspired Motel Room in Taiwan for Your Inner Superhero

We’ve seen more and more managers lately who choose to transform their accommodation unit into a place of animation. Which is why themed hotel rooms are now very easy to find, if you know where to look. For today we decided to showcase this Batman-inspired interior in Eden Motel, a true lovers’ nest located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. A king-sized bed, a Bat-mobile, cement-like walls, giant mirrors and of course, generous-sized Batman logos are just a few of the special features this crib has to offer. We heard that this place can be rented by the hour and that it costs 50$ for a three hour block. According to Curbed, the motel also offers sexy lingerie and other erotic perks during certain holidays. The motel features no less than 46 rooms, each of them with their own unique theme (the Jail Room, the Japanese Comics Room, and so on).

Unique Bedroom Design by Steve Kuhl Featuring a Pirate Ship

Designed by Steve Kuhl, this amazing pirate inspired bedroom accomplishes a dream for pirate enthusiasts of all ages. Ingeniously constructed, the unique bedroom can be accessed by letting go of all fears and becoming a child again: at a superior floor, a hole in the wall takes you sliding down a slide to a comfortable pillow located in the actual bedroom. Once you get up, the eyes immediately rise to meet a wonderful, fairy tale structure: a large pirate ship high on the ceiling. A wooden rope bridge is used to access the ship, where the crow’s nest reigns, alongside a second bed, for guests. The crow’s nest was made using a ten inch hand-hewn timber for extra strength and a rope connects it to the dressing below. The structure of the ship was carefully created: “We used 2×12 ribs to construct the hull of the ship, covering them with layers of 1/2 inch plywood to act as the planking. Our genius faux finisher developed a bomb-proof blend of plaster and epoxy with integrated colouring to simulate an old ship’s hull.” There is another way to access the bedroom: through a door that also hides the magic kingdom of the sea. A jail cell with a custom steel door meets whoever enters the room. It also serves as the base of the rope bridge. This astonishing interior design will help the child grow up in a creative environment, don’t you think?

Practical Retractable Table Set with a Friendly Design

We recently stumbled upon an interesting table and bench set which we consider to be very practical. Found on FPTrgovina, this idea could prove to be extremely handy when having to decorate small spaces. It could also be a great addition for all those times when your home is overcrowded: simply retract the table and benches and this way extra seating is ensured. We do not know if the set is customizable by size, but it does come in a variety of colors, which makes it easy to integrate in a wide variety of interiors, both modern and contemporary. When retracted, the portion that remains visible only has a a thickness of four centimeters. According to the producers, the design is user-friendly, meaning that it is easy to use and also has a good degree of comfort. Have a look at the photos and tell us if you would find this type of product useful.

Affordable and Versatile Sommerhaus Piu Prefab Vacation Home

The collaboration between German industrial designers Patrick Frey and Björn Götte led to the construction of this small but comfortable vacation house named Sommerhaus Piu Prefab Vacation Home. The affordable house can act as a vacation home, a weekend retreat or even a year-round home for those with a small budget. The cabin home displays a modern design that stands out in the middle of nature with its slightly pitched roof and colour duality. Covered in horizontal wood planks, the prefabricated house was designed to offer its inhabitants both comfortable interior spaces and outdoor relaxation facilities. A porch painted in a darker colour defines the edges of the house – this darker accent spreads to the roof and margins of the cabin, creating a contemporary visual appeal. The roof shapes a veranda that wraps around the house and shades part of the building. Floor-to-ceiling windows leave the living zone exposed to the surroundings, while the private room in the back is protected by the walls. This vacation house is perfect for those who need to be surrounded by nature and rest in a simple, modern and versatile cabin.

Dining Experience: Surrounded by Interactive Design

Designing a burger palace is not an easy job, especially if the restaurant is the place where the acclaimed chef and owner Bobby Flay would yet again experience with cuisine. Having owned many restaurants with different concepts and cuisines, the owner is interested in “the individual character of each of his projects, insisting on uniqueness and integrity.” Keeping the balance between the dining experience and visual appeal, “Bobby Flay has expanded his reach from fine dining into the local, casual restaurant experience at Bobby’s Burger Palace.” The clutter-free space at Bobby’s Burger Palace was designed by New-York-based cross-disciplinary architecture and design firm Rockwell Group, who“ reinvented the classic burger joint, using red, yellow and blue colors, and an iconic undulating central counter to create an energetic and fun environment. Here, guests can place their order and then sit at the counter and interact with their friends or other patrons while servers deliver their food and drinks.” Do you like the casual atmosphere of this restaurant?
